- How long does an intensive driving course take?
- Most intensive courses run over 1–2 weeks of full-day lessons (typically 6–8 hours per day). The exact duration depends on your starting ability and how quickly you progress. Complete beginners usually need 2 weeks; those with some prior experience may be ready in a week.
- How much does an intensive driving course cost?
- Costs vary by instructor and location. As a guide, a full intensive course for a beginner typically ranges from £800–£1,500 including the practical test fee. Rates are set by each instructor — you'll see their pricing when you search.
- Is an intensive course right for me?
- Intensive courses work best for motivated learners who can commit to full days of driving. They're ideal if you need a licence quickly, have a good attention span, and can handle the physical and mental demands of extended daily driving. They're not recommended if you have very high anxiety or need a very gradual pace.
- Will I definitely pass after an intensive course?
- No instructor can guarantee a pass — the DVSA practical test is an independent assessment. However, a good intensive course will only put you forward for the test when your instructor is confident you're at the required standard.
- Do I need to book the theory test first?
- Yes. You must pass the theory test before you can sit the practical test. If you haven't passed your theory yet, do this first — it can be booked online via the DVSA website.
- Can I do an intensive course in an automatic car?
- Yes. Many of our instructors offer intensive automatic courses. If you're considering automatic, bear in mind your licence will be restricted to automatic vehicles only.
